About Us
Cooperative Food Sales, Inc. began operations in 1999 and is owned and operated by John Gorra. CFS works with numerous manufacturers and distributors to deliver outstanding products at competitive prices.
John grew up working in his family produce business in Connecticut and continued in that business for seven years after college. Then, after earning an MA in Religion at Andover Newton Theological School in MA, he spent eight years working with non profits which included a year and a half at the Red Cross coordinating food deliveries for food pantries and soup kitchens, and seven years at SHARE New England, a large non-profit food cooperative.
After one year with a specialty meat company, Cooperative Food Sales began with a goal of selling multiple high quality products to many other non-profits throughout the country.
John lives with Rebecca, his wife, and their two children in Staunton, VA.
